Will you take a letter of undertaking to remove a lien?

No. The lien will be removed once full payment is received and reflected on the account. The Surveyor of Taxes does not charge a fee for this service.

How can I find out the taxes owing on a specific property?

You can do a property search on BC Online, or complete a Request for Rural Property Tax Information form and submit it with payment of the $20 search fee. Forms and payment should be submitted to the Surveyor of Taxes or a local Service BC-Government Agent office.

I made a payment on behalf of a client that resulted in an overpayment. How do I claim a refund?

If the credit is a result of a payment made by a lawyer or notary public, the amount may be refunded to the lawyer or notary by request; otherwise, it will be refunded automatically to the owner during account audit procedures. Without request from the lawyer or notary, property sales often require communication between our offices to determine whether the vendor or purchaser is the eligible party to receive the refund.

See our Refunds page for more information.

A client made a payment that resulted in an overpayment. How can the client claim a refund?
