The government has introduced legislation that, if enacted into law, will impose a carbon tax on the retail purchase and use in British Columbia of fuels, such as gasoline, diesel, natural gas, heating fuel, propane and coal, and on tires when used to produce energy or heat, effective July 1, 2008.

It is intended that the carbon tax be revenue neutral. Revenue neutral means the revenue from the carbon tax will be returned to taxpayers through reductions in other provincial taxes.

Information will be added to this webpage as it becomes available. Please subscribe to this page if you wish to be automatically notified when changes are made.
