What is Temporary Premium Assistance (TPA)? Who is eligible? |
Temporary Premium Assistance (TPA) provides a short term period of MSP premium waver for qualifying individuals and families. It is designed to assist individuals and families who are not able to pay premiums due to sudden financial hardship for which they could not reasonably have budgeted. To be eligible for TPA, you must meet all of the following criteria:

You are a Canadian Citizen or a holder of a permanent resident status for the last 12 months; |
|
You have resided in Canada for the last 12 months; |
|
You are billed directly for your own MSP Premiums; |
|
You (and your spouse, if applicable) have filed the previous year's Income Tax Return with the Canada Revenue Agency; |
|
You are experiencing unexpected financial hardship for which you could not reasonably have budgeted; |
|
The essential living cost for your household exceeds the total income of you and your spouse. Essential living cost does not include consumer debt or loan payments. |

How do I add/remove family members from my MSP account? |
If you would like to add or remove family members on your group MSP account please contact the Ministry of Health - MSP (opens in new window). Once MSP has processed your request, the amount of premiums due for the affected period will be adjusted.
