Northern and Rural Homeowner Benefit
As announced in 2009, a northern and rural homeowner benefit of up to $200 will be available for the
2011 and subsequent tax years.
To be eligible for the benefit, you must meet the requirements for the basic and/or additional grant, and your home must be located in British Columbia, but outside the Capital Regional District (CRD), Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) and Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD).
For 2013, the home owner grant will be reduced on higher-valued properties by $5 for each $1,000 of assessed value over $1,295,000. The basic grant with a northern and rural homeowner benefit is eliminated on homes assessed at $1,449,000 or more, and the additional grant with a northern and rural homeowner benefit is eliminated on homes of $1,504,000 or more.
