Answers:

Do I charge PST on window films?

It depends. Most window films are taxable. However, window film designed to prevent heat loss from a building and installed in an existing window is tax-exempt.

Do I charge PST on solar thermal systems?

No. You do not charge PST on complete units of solar thermal systems. You also do not charge PST on parts that are designed and used for the repair or reconditioning of solar power generating equipment.

Do I charge PST on the plastic wrap and other packaging material I use to deliver the items I sell?

It depends. You charge PST on the packaging materials when they are itemized separately on the invoice.

However, when you sell taxable goods to your customer and you do not charge separately for the packaging materials, you only charge PST on the purchase price of the goods being sold.

Do I charge PST on the fee for staining a door before I deliver it to my customer?

It depends. The charge to stain the door is part of the purchase price. Therefore, if the door is taxable, you charge PST on the total purchase price of the door, including the fee for staining. However, if the door is tax-exempt, you do not charge PST on the fee for staining.
