About the Ministry – Mineral, Oil and Gas Revenue Branch
The Mineral, Oil and Gas Revenue Branch of the Ministry of Small Business and Revenue is responsible for the financial management and administration of oil, gas and mine revenues. The branch calculates, verifies, collects and reports the Crown royalties and production-based taxes payable by the mining and petroleum industries.
The Mineral, Oil and Gas Revenue Branch administers the following tax and revenue programs:

In fulfilling its mandate, the branch:
- assists industry compliance by publicizing the Acts, regulations and policies, and providing explanations, advice and interpretation
- provides convenient means of reporting and distributes reporting forms
- records amounts receivable and payments in royalty and taxpayer accounts
- reports the amounts of revenue received and receivable from clients
- verifies the accuracy of amounts paid and issues assessments as required
- ensures legislation is interpreted and applied fairly and consistently
- advises on polices and legislation related to mineral, oil and gas resource revenues
